Dog Knot Stuck Dog Knot Stuck

Dog Knot Stuck is one of its problem that is found common in dogs. The reason behind this is dissimilarity in the reproductive system of dogs and the way they make use of this anatomy for the reproduction process. The mating process in dogs is based on different steps among which the last one is called as “tying.” This tying is the result of swelling that appears on the ventral portion of the dog’s penis and is termed as “Dog penis knot.” The duration for which the penis remains in this state is for about 2 to 30 minutes. If the tying process exceeds the normal time period than it is called to be as Dog Knot Stuck and the problem can cause severe injury and damage and can even lead to secondary problems in the later stages.

Tying is a normal step during mating as throughout ejaculation the male releases the semen in three different stages and each portion has different fraction of semen. The entire mating process takes 6 to 45 minutes depending on the age and breed of dogs. Once the tying process is over the mating is complete and both the male and female are free. Mostly the reported cases of problems associated with tying process are due to any physiological abnormality in the reproductive system of male dog or due to any prevailing disease.

Signs and Symptoms of Dog Knot Stuck- the first sign of any abnormality is if the tying phase remains for more than 45 to 60 minutes, this extension in duration is the main indicator of any problem in the normal process of mating. A veterinarian should be immediately consulted if symptoms of pain, discomfort, bleeding, and restlessness in any of the partner is reported during the mating process. Complications are also reported due to secondary factors like an infection of the reproductive tract, any physiological abnormality, and heavy blood loss and due to aggression the animal can harm himself.

Female dogs at a younger should be kept away from getting into the mating process until the genitals are well mature. Male dogs reported with disorders like hypertension or any cardiovascular problems often face the problem of Dog knot as the swelling remains for a longer period. Dogs in the middle of their age often get into delayed ejaculation of semen, they may experience delayed tying condition but mostly it cures on its own. Due to exertion of sudden pressure and associated pain any abnormal movement can cause distortion or even injury to the penis or female genitals. It may wade off with time but may require medical attention if it is not self cured. The discharge of blood can also be a part of normal process and is usually misinterpreted but heavy bleeding needs consideration. The animals should be checked if they show any signs of injury or face complication in mating process. In case the inflammation and major injury is reported than consult the Vet and seek medical attention
